Welcome friends! I’m Genesis, a St. Louis-based freelance photographer.

I’ve been making images since I was a senior in high school. My very first photos were taken with my grandfather’s trusty old Minolta film camera back when I was living in the Pacific Northwest. I can remember the excitement of getting my subject into focus and hearing the shutter click, as well as the agony of waiting for the film to be processed for what seemed like an eternity, followed again by the joy of seeing what had been developed once my prints had been processed and picked up from the local convenience store (yep, i’m that old). To this day, I am still learning as much as I can about this medium, honing my skills, and shooting as much as possible when not working with college students or walking my dog Kennedy.

Being a photographer is such a great joy and I love how it has provided a wide array of opportunities for me to enter and be a part of many unique communities, and also to be connected to an eclectic coterie of talented human beings. My goal is to make authentic images of people, events, food, places and spaces. I am fueled by the energy that creativity, curiosity, and openness to be of service to others brings. Photography is my zen space and artistic haven to engage creatively with others, to illuminate rare moments in time, to practice visual story-telling, and to create avenues of awareness, which in turn provides for life-long connectedness to those I have the privilege to capture.
